Digital Asset Destiny
As improvements in technology rapidly pickup pace and collectively humanity moves closer towards merger with a digital citizenship, what are the implications? The future of digital assets is likely to be shaped by advances in technology and changes in society. Some experts predict that digital assets will become even more widely adopted and integrated into daily life, while others anticipate a more uncertain future, with the potential for negative consequences from the increasing use of digital assets. What is a Digital Asset and will they revolutionize wealth portfolios?
Digital assets come in many forms, including cryptocurrencies, digital art, music and video files, and virtual real estate.
One example of a cryptocurrency is Bitcoin, which is a decentralized digital currency that is created, held, and transferred electronically. It can be bought and sold on various cryptocurrency exchanges, such as Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken.
Another example of a digital asset is digital art, which is artwork created and stored in a digital format. Digital art can be bought, sold, and traded on platforms such as SuperRare, KnownOrigin, and Rarible. These platforms use blockchain technology, which is a decentralized and secure way of recording transactions, to ensure the authenticity and ownership of digital art.
Another example of digital asset is non-fungible token (NFT) which are unique digital assets that can represent virtual items such as in-game items, collectible cards, and virtual land. These can be traded on marketplaces like OpenSea, Rarible, Magic Eden, and SuperRare. Thus far, I have had the opportunity create my first NFT Collections, under my Digital Artists alias Quantum Sentience, including First Spaceship to Mars featuring one of my favorite pieces thus far Spaceship Preparing to Colonize Mars and the First Ape On Mars, One of a Kind Digital Headshots, and Quantum Hyper Intelligence.
In addition, Virtual real estate can be also considered as a digital asset, where people can buy, sell, and trade virtual plots of land, buildings, and other structures in virtual worlds like Decentraland, Somnium Space, and The Sandbox. These virtual worlds use blockchain technology to ensure the authenticity and ownership of virtual real estate.
Overall, the digital asset market is growing rapidly and expected to continue to do so as more and more people discover the benefits and potential of digital assets.
Digital Dystopian Nightmare or Digital Oasis?
In Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World," a technocratic dystopia is depicted in which individuals are controlled and manipulated through the use of advanced technology, including digital assets. Similarly, in William Gibson's "Neuromancer," technology has advanced to the point where the lines between the physical and digital worlds are blurred, and digital assets are central to the economy and power structure of society.
The Matrix, a science fiction film depicts a dystopian future where humans are trapped inside a simulated reality created by sentient machines to distract and pacify them while their bodies are used as an energy source. In this scenario, the digital assets have been created as a way to keep the human population under control, and they have no real value.
Ready Player One, a novel and later a film, is set in a future where people spend most of their time in a virtual world called the OASIS, and the digital assets have become a central part of their lives. In this story, people are fighting to win the ultimate prize, a digital Easter egg hidden within the OASIS that will give the winner control of the company that created the virtual world, and all its assets.
All of these fictional works depicted a future where technology has advanced to a point where digital assets are central to society, with both positive and negative consequences. They suggest that as the use of digital assets continues to grow, it will be important to consider the potential impact on individuals and society as a whole.
It's important to note that the above mentioned works are fictional and the future of digital assets is uncertain, it could go into a positive or negative direction depending on how we use the technology and how we regulate it.
